First A/c to be displayed

Selects the account to be the default search argument displayed when you request Search

You will normally select any account to be displayed by going to the Account Names List, highlighting the required account and then clicking the Review Account button.

You will probably find however that when you start MoneyBox each time, you will want to look at one particular account - probably your Bank account.

Display First

Determines whether the first display on start-up is the Account Names List or the account specified by the initial search argument.

Format

The Account Names List can either be displayed as a simple list of names, or it can be displayed with the debit or credit balance of each Category, Summary and detail account shown in columns alongside the account names.

The default setting is without the account balances since this gives more privacy if someone looks over your shoulder.

Select by

When you are entering account items, you need to specify where each transaction Goes To, ie one of the names in the Account Names List.

The input field is a drop down list of all the detail account names, either in alphabetic order or in account number order. As you key in your selection, the system searches the list and types ahead of you so that you can make your selection with only a few keystrokes.

If you start keying in with an alpha character, the system displays and searches the alpha sequenced list. If you key in a numeric character first, the system selects and searches the account number sequenced list.

This selection that you make in this dialog specifies whether you want the numeric or the alphabetic list to appear first.

The default is set to alphabetic since you will normally select by description eg Rent, Heat & Light etc.
